AAA Cards #129 - Mostly White

Hi everyone! It is a new challenge over at AAA Cards challenges and the theme is Mostly White.

My card was made thinking about a snowy Christmas.

I die cut the snowflakes and glued glitter onto them (the picture doesn't show the sparkle). I stamped the sentiment on the card and embossed it with silver embossing powder. Then I added the snowflakes around them. Between the silver on the sentiment and the glitter it really does shine :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Layered Wreath
Dies: MFT - Let it Snowflake too
Embossing powder - Hero Arts Silver
Glitter - Elizabeth Craft Warm Diamond

Out sponsor this challenge is STAMPlorations and Shery has upped the value for this challenge to $20 GC. Hope you can join us :)

AAA Cards #128 - On the Move

Hi everyone. It is time for a new challenge at AAA Cards. The theme this fortnight is On the Move.

For my card, I thought of on the move as movement from the wind.

To start, I stamped the three dandelions with versamark except for the one on the right. Then I stamps the single dandelion that has seeds blowing next to the first two. I embossed them with white ep. After the ep was dried, I used a zig clean color marker to color all the nooks in the dandelion and along the stems to give them a shadow. I also used a the zig to draw the faint outline of the ground (hard to see in the picture). Then I stamped the sentiment and added a few clear enamel dots around it.

Supplies:
Stamps: Happy Little Stampers - Dandelion Wishes
Inks: Versamark, MFT - Extreme Black;Zig Clean color marker - Shadow Mauve
Embellishments: Hero Arts - white EP; Nuvo drops -  Morning Dew

Our sponsor this challenge is Happy Little Stampers. They are giving away a great stamp set to the winner.

Butterfly hugs - Remembering Melissa

Hello everyone. Today's post is a tribute to one of my AAA team mates who passed far too early, Melissa Lane. I never got to meet Melissa in real life but she was always so nice and supportive of everyone in her comments across all the blogs and also in our conversations on the AAA Cards blog team page.

This is from today's AAA Cards post:

Today AAA Cards is joining in with STAMPlorations to celebrate and acknowledge the artistic and creative talents of Melissa Lane.

Last October 2, Melissa (https://honeybeelane.wordpress.com) passed away. She was a talented cardmaker/crafter/artist, a mother of 4, wife, and servant of Jesus. Melissa loved to garden and she loved photography. Her favourite colour was red, and she loved butterflies -- so much so that many of the cards and other projects she made had butterflies in them.

She was a valuable part of the STAMPlorations Mixed Media team and AAA Cards CAS team.

If you knew Melissa when she was alive -- maybe you were on the same design team(s) or you were bloggy friends -- however you knew her, we'd like to invite you to join us in celebrating her life by creating a butterfly card in her memory.

You may blog about the card you make as a tribute to her or not, but either way, you can add your card to Melissa's Butterfly Gallery (an InLinkz linky) that will be found on the STAMPlorations tribute post. The linky will be open until October 31.

And should you wish Melissa's family to have your card, you can mail it to the address below. Shery Russ (STAMPlorations owner and Melissa's friend) will collect the butterfly cards, put them in a box, and mail them to Melissa's family.

Mail your butterfly cards to:

Shery Russ
20147 Road 192
Strathmore, CA 93267
USA

***Important: Stamp or draw a butterfly on the envelope so that it doesn't get opened accidentally. Make sure the envelope is sealed tight and/or the edges are reinforced with tape.***

Finally, here is a message from Melissa's husband, Chris. He posted this as a comment on Melissa's blog but he gave Shery permission to pass it on in any way that it can reach a wider audience.

"Hello everyone. This is Chris, Melissa’s husband. I have been blessed by the outpouring of so many people. I know it is difficult to mourn from long distance. If you’d like join the community going through this together, please go to our farm Facebook page @Mainepromisedlandfarm. Gardening and planting flowers were Melissa’s other creative passions and she had worked hard to get our farm to where it is today in just a short period of time. Please read along as my family and I walk through this trial and be able to encourage us as we encourage you with what God is doing to get us through. Blessings, grace and Peace.
Chris"

Thank you so much for visiting today. Make sure to hug those close to you as often as you can.

AAA Cards #126 - Moonlight

Hello. I am happy to be back with a new challenge at AAA Cards. The theme for this challenge is moonlight.

Here is my take on the challenge.

I used a background I made from alcohol inks in purple, blue and silver to die cut the little boy sitting in a crescent moon. I adhered it to the front of an A2 card and drew in the fishing pole. Then I stamped the sentiment and used versamark ink to stamp a few star clusters around the moon.

Supplies:
Stamps and dies: Hero Arts - MMH kit Aug 2017
Inks: Alcohol inks (I made this background awhile ago and didn't write down the colors); Versamark

Our sponsor this week is Uniko who is giving away an in stock stamp set of your choice. Hope you can play along with us and thanks for visiting.

Elf on the shelf - Sparkles Challenge #93

Hi again :) It is the first of the month and time to think about your holiday cards. This month Sparkles Christmas challenges is looking for cards for kids. For my card, I thought of the tradition of Elf on the Shelf.

I stamped the elf and then masked him off to stamp the shelf. I colored the scene in with copics and then used a rectangle die cut (my original stamping was off center and crooked, lol). I added the sentiment underneath and layered it on patterned paper.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Little elves; Hero Arts - Celebrate Everyday
Inks: MFT - Black licorice; Copics

The holiday season is coming up soon! Hope you can join us with your holiday cards :)

Thanks for visiting!!

AAA #125 - Inspired by a TV show

Hello! It is time for another challenge at AAA Cards challenges. For this challenge, we are looking to see how you are inspired by a TV show.

My card was inspired by a TV show that I used to watch as a kid, Home Improvement :)

This was my take on how Mr. Wilson, the neighbor, always greeted the family over the fence but you never got to see his face. For my card, I stamped the fence first and then masked it and added the little boy's face. I colored it in with copics and then stamped the sentiment next to it.

Supplies:
 Stamps: W plus 9 - Garden buddies; Cloncord & 9th - Perfectly penned
Inks: MFT - black licorice; Copics

Hope you get a chance to play along with us.

Thanks for visiting!

AAA Cards #124 - Imagine

Hello again! It is time for a new challenge at AAA Cards and the theme is Imagine.

With school starting for my kids, there are lots of activities going on and kids coming and going from my house. The imaginations of kids are amazing and one of the things that I hear them talking about lately is Halloween planning. So with that and our current theme, I decided to make a Halloween card :)
My kids have been helping me color a bunch of these little costumed kiddos. These two were colored with tombows and then cut out with the matching dies. For the background, I cut a rectangle out of masking paper and used the negative portion to mask everything but the interior. Then I used distress inks to add some color to the background. I adhered the die-cut figures to the front and added some star sequins to the witch's outfit. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment under my image.

Our challenge this fortnight is being sponsored by Winnie and Walter. What does 'imagine' bring to mind for you? Hope you can join us for our challenge!

Thanks for stopping by.

Fall Greetings - Be-Leaf Sparkle blends

Hey all! I am back with another of the new sparkle blend releases from Doodles Paper Playground. It still feels like summer here but now that it is September and school is starting, I feel like it should be fall, lol. I made this card with the Be-leaf sparkle blend. These colors scream fall and cooler weather so mice jumping into a pile of leaves was a perfect fit.

To start my card, I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped and colored leaves all over it. Then I stamped my mice and leaves (these are from last Stamptember) on a top folding A2 card and colored them with colored pencils. I cut out a dome shape on the leaf panel and used a dome shaker pouch from MFT in the cutout portion with the sparkle blend in it. For the sentiment, I stamped it on a piece of kraft cardstock and cut a banner shape around it. The last touch was using a few leaf sequins from the blend and adding them to the sentiment. Check out the closeup below. How gorgeous are those leaf sequins?

Supplies:
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp/Neat & Tangled - Hello, Pumpkin; Create a Smile - Unfrogettable
Inks: Prismacolor pencils, Hero Arts - soft granite
Dies: MFT - Snow globe
Embellishments: Doodles Paper Playground - Be-leaf; MFT - dome shaker pouch

I am sharing this in a few challenges:

AAA Cards #123 - Sketch

Hello! I am back with a new card for the AAA Cards challenge. This one was Jane's choice and I have to say that I love sketch challenges :)

https://aaacards.blogspot.com/2018/09/cas-game-123-sketch.html

Here is my take on the sketch.
I took a top folding A2 white card and die cut a circle out of the front. Then I stamped flowers on the inside, using some masks, and picked a few to color in with Tombow markers. I picked a simple sentiment for the front so I can use this card for just about any reason.

Supplies:
Stamps: Happy Little Stampers - Doodled flowers; YNS - Puddles of fun
Inks: Tombow markers; MFT - Black Licorice
Dies: We R Memory Keepers - Circle stack

Our challenge is sponsored by Happy Little Stampers and is giving a $20 gift certificate to the winner. Our design team and guest designer, Alex, have some beautiful cards for inspiration. Do you like sketch challenges too? If so, I hope you get a chance to play along.
Thanks so much for visiting!

Sparkles #92 - Blue and gold

Hello! It is the first of the month and I am back with inspiration for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas challenges. This time the theme is a color scheme: blue and gold.

This is one of my favorite Christmas tree stamps :) I stamped it with four different blues for an ombre look. Then I heat embossed the greeting (an older wood mounted stamp) below in gold and used gold Nuvo drops in random spots throughout the tree. After trimming the panel slightly, I adhered it to the front of a deep blue A2 card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Penny Black - Swirling;
Inks: Distress Oxide - Broken China, Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch
Embellishments: Nuvo drops - Bright gold; EP - Recollections gold

Have you started thinking about Christmas yet? My oldest is just about to start school next week so I know that I really have not. Luckily these challenges mean that I have a head start on my Christmas cards :) I hope you get a chance to play along with us.

Thanks so much for visiting!!

AAA Cards #121 - Use a stencil

Hi all! It is time for another challenge at AAA Cards and this fortnight's theme, chosen by Melissa, is 'use a stencil'. Here is my take on the challenge.

Then I masked off the ellie, laid my stencil over it and blended green and blue over the bottom corner. I stamped the sentiment at the top and trimmed the panel down to put on a top folding A2 card. A few Nuvo drop finished off the card.

Supplies:
Stamps: MFT - Adorable Elephants; Wplus9 - That is all
Inks: Zig Clean Color; Distress inks - Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio
Stencil: Neat & Tangled - Hexastar

Let Your Light Shine + DPP Blog hop

Hi everyone! Doodles Paper Playground is celebrating their new release with a blog hop and I am super excited to be a part of it. Here is my card using the Sparkle Blend - Majestic :)

I used one of my all time favorite kits for this one, last year's My Monthly Hero August kit. To start, I die cut the cloud/stars window frame out of a panel of white cardstock. Then I blended distress inks over the front of a top folding A2 card to be the background. For the little girl, I used a scrap piece of cardstock and stamped/embossed her with silver ep and die cut her out. I also stamped and embossed the sentiment at the bottom of the panel. To put it all together, I taped clear acetate to the back of the panel and covered the edges of the back with foam tape. The sparkle blend went on the top of the card in a little pile and then I lined the top panel up at one end and pressed it down. I added the die cut of the little girl to the top and a few sequins at the bottom to finish it off.

Supplies:
Stamps: Hero Arts - MMH Aug 17
Dies: Hero Arts - MMH Aug 17
Inks: Distress Oxides - Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Salty Ocean
Embellishments: DPP - Majestic Sparkle Blend; Hero Arts - Silver EP

AAA Cards Challenge #121 - Friendship

Hello! It is time for a new challenge at AAA Cards and the theme is Friendship.

I went with a floral pattern and a soft color scheme for my card.

I have had this flower stamp set for quite awhile (it was from last STAMPtember) but for some reason I never got around to using it even though it is really pretty. I was also inspired by Debbie Hughes' soft color schemes and decided to try it out on this card. To start, I used my Misti to place the first layer of the flower in the bottom corner of a top folding A2 card. Then after stamping, I rotated the card 180 degrees and stamped again. I repeated that for the rest of the layers. Then I stamped the flower on a sticky note and cut it out as a mask to add the leaf. I used the same steps for the leaf, moving the sticky note as I went. The sentiment is actually a combination of two stamp sets.

This card was actually my second version. In the first one, the only difference was I added the sentiment lower on the card and used colored pencils to add more detail to the flowers. Which do you like better. I like the softness of the first one but also the details from the colored pencil in the second.

 Supplies:
Stamps: SSS/Clearly Besotted - My Best Friend; SSS - Live Well, Stained Glass Love
Ink: Distress ink - Spun Sugar; Mama Elephant - Blush, Bubblegum;
Lawn Fawn - Peacock, Mermaid; Hero Arts - Soft Pool; My Favorite Things - Extreme Black
Prisma color pencils - 931 938, 993, 1025

What kind of cards do you make for your friends? Show us in the challenge and you will have a chance to win a gift card from our sponsor, CASual Fridays.

Sparkles Christmas - Kraft

Hi everyone! Christmas in July is over but if you haven't gotten all of your Christmas cards finished how about joining us at Sparkles Christmas for a Krafty challenge.

That little singing bird just makes me happy :) I started my card with a top folding A2 Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. I stamped my wreath and added some highlights with a white pencil. Then I stamped the little bird on white cardstock and colored him with copics, which I fussy cut out. Before I added the birdie to the card, I stamped and embossed the sentiment below the wreath. Once that was done, I adhered the bird to the wreath, stamped a few music notes over him and to add a little sparkle, I used a few Christmas colored sequins.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Layered wreath; Honey Bee - Let it Snow
Inks: Distress Oxide - Forest Moss, Peeled Paint, Candied Apple, Gathered Twigs ;
Copics -  Y11, Y13, Y35
Embellishments: Pretty Pink Posh - Classic Christmas 4mm

Stay Awesome

Hi all! A while ago I got the Concord and 9th Everyday Tintables which are cardstock panels that already have embossed patterns on them and are just waiting for color. I needed several cards recently and these came in super handy. Here is the first one.

For my card, I took one of the Everyday Tintable cards and blended Distress Oxide over the whole panel. I die cut the 'hello' sentiment 3 times out of white cardstock and glued them together to give depth. I also die cut the shadow in vellum. The little sentiment was embossed with white EP and then trimmed down. To assemble, I trimmed the blended panel down to 4.5''x5'' and adhered it to a top folding A2 card. The I clued the hello to the vellum shadow. I added liquid glue to the back of the vellum where it would be hidden by the white sentiment. I put it on the front of the card with the black banner beneath it.

Supplies:
Stamps: MFT - Essential Sentiments
Dies: Honey Bee - hello
Inks: Distress Oxide - Cracked Pistachio
Misc: Concord & 9th - Everyday Tintables

The reason I needed several cards is I am part of a really great group called Zippy Zebra and Friends. This group, run by a wonderful women named Cindy, send cards to hundred of kids that have some kind of hardship in their lives (cancer, autism, etc.). Each sender is has a handful of kids that they send cards to each month. Their parents take pictures of them with their cards and add them to a private FB group so you can see how much these little gestures mean to them. It is great to be able to follow along with these kids and see them grow.

I am sharing this card in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

Also, if you are interested in being a sender for Zippy Zebra, check out their public facebook page and send Cindy a message.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

My last touch was adding a few sparkly sequins.

Supplies:
Stamps: MFT - Sassy pants birthday greetings
Dies: MFT - Happy Birthday block

AAA Cards #120 - Somewhere over the rainbow

It is time for a new challenge at AAA Cards challenges - Somewhere over the Rainbow. Whenever I see this challenge title I hear Judy Garland singing :)

My card (with that sentiment) actually reminds me of another movie that my kids and I love, Trolls. To start, I took a top folding A2 card and stamped my rainbow and sentiment with Versamark ink and then embossed with silver ep. I used zig clean color markers to color in the rainbow and added clear sequins along each end. The last touch was stamping hearts in yellow.

Supplies:
Stamps: Essentials by Ellen - Over it
Inks: Zig Clean color markers - 021, 031, 045, 051, 070, 081; Versamark

Mermaid birthday

Hi everybody :) I am up on the Doodles Paper Playground blog with this cute shaker card. Check it out for more details on how I made my card.

Last time I posted, I had a princess birthday card for my daughter, Paige. This time, I have a birthday card for my daughter, McKenna (they are twins). So originally I wasn't sure if I was going to do another shaker card but my husband saw the princess one and told me I couldn't not make a second one, lol. The girls are both in love with Ariel from The Little Mermaid which made my coloring choices pretty easy.

Such a pretty blend! Can you see the little fishies and ducky?

Supplies:
Stamps: YNS - Little darling mermaid
Dies: MFT - Mod rectangle stax
Inks: Zig clean color markers; Distress Oxide inks - Peacock feathers, Salty Ocean
Stencil: Altenew - Scallop builder
Embellishments: Doodles Paper Playground - Mermaid scales

AAA Cards #119 - Christmas in July

Hi all! I am back with a new challenge for AAA Cards challenges - Christmas in July.

I have been trying to do a few Christmas cards each month so that I am not in a rush at the end of the year. I am not always successful but I try :) Anyway, this is a great challenge to jump start your holiday cards. For my card, I went with cool blue colors (I think it was upper 90s outside and I really wanted to channel some cooler temps).

I started my card by die cutting some masking paper with a border die. I stuck the border and a straight piece of masking paper an inch or so apart on my top folding A2 card. Then I used 3 colors of blue to blend the background color. Before taking my masking paper off, I traced the bottom edge with a light gray marker to give definition to the bottom of my scene. After removing the masking tape and letting the ink dry a bit, I stamped the tree and sentiment.

Supplies:
Stamps: Lawn Fawn - Plan on it Holidays; Clearly Besotted - Layered wreath
Dies: Avery Elle - Dotted borders
Inks: Distress inks - Faded jeans, Broken china, Tumbled glass; MFT - Black Licorice

Our sponsor this challenge is Happy Little Stampers who is giving a $20 gift certificate and Kylie and our guest designer, Maria have joined the design team with beautiful cards. Hope you can join us for the challenge this fortnight :)

I woof you

Hi everyone. I have a card for the MFT sketch challenge.

I started my card by blending three colors of distress oxide ink on a panel of bristol cardstock and spritzed it with shimmer spray. Then I die cut the panel with a Lawn Fawn backdrop die and then a border die. I adhered it to a top folding A2 card. The pup was stamped awhile ago for the 30 day coloring challenge. I colored him with copics and fussy cut him out.

The 'hello' was die cut three times out of scrap cardstock and layered them on top of each other. I used the negative portion of the scrap paper to position the letters on the card. I stamped the rest of the sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock and used a paper trimmer to cut it out. I added the sentiment strip below the 'hello' and adhered the puppy on top.

Supplies:
Stamps: MFT - Puppy pals
Dies: Lawn Fawn - Quilted Backdrop; Avery Elle - Custom panels; MFT - Happy Greetings
Inks: Distress Oxide - Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon; Copics - V01, V06, W00, W1, W4, W6, W9

Sparkles #90 - Christmas stockings

Hi! It's hard to believe it is July already. Where did the first half of the year go? The beginning of the month means a new Christmas challenge at Sparkles Christmas and the theme is Christmas stockings.

I am on a coloring kick lately, so I was looking around for an image that I could color. So I did a search and found this really cute image from Dearie Dolls. It is a free digi and I immediately printed it out on white cardstock to start coloring. I need lots more practice with colored pencils but I love all the colors in this. Once I had colored everything, I used a fantastix coloring tool and baby oil to blend the pencil color a bit. To finish, I die cut the image and stamped the sentiment at the bottom. Then I adhered it to the front of a gray top folding A2 card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Dearie Dolls - Christmas stocking; Lawn fawn - Merry messages
Dies: Avery Elle - Double pierced rectangles
Inks: Prismacolor pencils; MFT - Black licorice

Have you started thinking about holiday cards yet? This is a perfect time to add to your holiday cards before the craziness of the holiday season hits. If you get a chance, check out the rest of the design team's cards to get more inspiration.

Hello Pizzazz with Doodle's Paper Playground

I am back with a card inspired by Doodle's Paper Playgrounds new release Peacock Pizzazz.

To start my card, I masked off the top portion of a panel of Bristol smooth cardstock on an angle and used a light blue ink blended over the bottom. Then I used washi tape to secure a wave stencil on top and used two darker blue inks over it.

I die cut a rectangle out of white cardstock and stamped the shark and sentiment on it. I colored the shark with copics.

I added the panel to a top folding A2 card and layered the shark on top. Then I used embellishments from Peacock Pizzazz and added them to the stenciled waves and as bubbles above the shark.

Supplies:
Stamps: Avery Elle – Swim team
Dies: Avery Elle – Double pierced rectangles
Inks: Distress oxide inks – Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint sketch;
 Copic –C00, C1, C3
Embellishments: Doodle’s Paper playground – Peacock Pizzazz
