Happy birthday - SSS kit

Hello all :) I love this time of year with all the holidays and back to school activities. It doesn't leave me as much time for cardmaking though so I was super happy to be able to make something this weekend. I got the October SSS kit and just now got around to using it. It has the most gorgeous papers which are a little intimidating for me but I really wanted to use at least one of them on this card.
I started by taking one of the designer papers and used an Avery Elle dot border die to cut the bottom. Then I took the navy cardstock and layered the original cut dp on top and taped the die back in place. When I put it through my cuttlebug, the two pieces fit together like a puzzle. I embossed the sentiment along the bottom and a few of the brushstroke hearts with the navy embossing powder. There is a flower die that came with the kit and I used a rose foiled cardstock to cut the flower out and added it to the card.

I am sharing this in the Seize the Birthday challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

AAA Cards #103 - Celebrate

Hi! I am back with a new challenge for AAA Cards challenge and it is all about celebrations! Anything you want to celebrate, we want to see :)

I am running low on birthday cards so I focused on that for the celebration theme. I love playing with stamps that give lots of options and this alphabet set gave me options. So I went with a card that focused on the sentiment :)

I stamped the outline letters for 'happy' and then added the 'birthday' sentiment below. Then I went back and filled in the outlines with the fill-in stamps. I stamped the balloon and drew a string down to tie it to the 'y'. A white gel pen added a little detail to the balloon. I am planning to make several more of this card in different colors so that I have a stash of birthday cards ready to go.

I can't wait to see what you come up with for this challenge. Our sponsor is Happy Little Stampers and you have a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to their store. The design team has some great inspiration so if you time definitely check them out and leave some love.

Stamps: Altenew - Filled Alpha, Paper Smooches - Birthday Bash, HLS - Doodled Flowers
Inks: Lawn Fawn - Celery stick, Merman, Versafine Black

Thanks so much for stopping by! I love to hear from you :)

Sparkles Christmas #82 - More than one fold

Hello everyone. I am so excited to be able to share my first card as a DT for Sparkles Christmas Challenge! This month the challenge is making a Christmas card that has more than one fold. For my card I used a gate fold and some non-traditional colors.

This month has been insanely busy for me so this card was done over several days because I had to work on it a little bit here and little bit there. I started by using distress oxide inks and blending them over a white panel of bristol card stock. Then I used circle stamps and water to add some lighter spots over it. I was trying for a bokeh look that I saw on merry making online card classes but I need more practice. However, I still like the overall look :) The peace stamp is one of  my first Christmas stamps and still one of my favorites. I used versamark ink to stamp it on vellum and heat emboss it with silver embossing powder. Then I die cut it with a scallop die and layered it on some circle cardstock.

I cut the blended panel in half and adhered it to a base with a gate fold. Then I cut a thin strip of white cardstock to add to one edge. The small sentiment was embossed with white powder on a thin black strip. The circle was placed on one side with foam tape and the thin sentiment was glued to the top.

Stamps: Hampton Art - Peace, Hero Arts - Peace stamp n'cut
Inks: Distress Oxide - Peacock Feathers, Broken China, Black Soot, Peeled Paint

I hope you can play along and get a jump on your Christmas cards! If you get a chance, check out the rest of the design team's cards. They are incredibly talented :)
