School colors - thank you

Hello! I hope you are all having a good weekend. :) I tried a new technique for me this weekend, gold foil flakes. It went with The Male Room's challenge of school colors and since my school was Oakland University (go Golden Grizzlies!) and the colors were black, white and metallic gold, it seemed like a good day to try them out.

This was a fun card to make! If you ever want to feel like a kid and make a mess, try using gold foil flakes. I used a plastic container to keep everything contained but I still managed to get flakes all over my desk. It cleaned up pretty easy with a dry wipe though so not too bad. Anyway, I started out by using versamark ink and a sticky embossing powder to heat emboss my background stamp. Then I put the panel in a plastic bin and pressed gold flakes on top of it. Once it was completely covered, i rubbed off some of the big pieces of foil with my fingers and then switched to a stencil brush to finish brushing off the extra foil. After I was happy with the foil, I trimmed it down a little so that I could mat it on a piece of black cardstock. I die cut the 'thank you' out of the same black cardstock and used a multi-matte glue to stick them to my panel. I realized that I hadn't centered the you underneath so I added some black Nuvo dots to even it out.
I wanted to keep the overall design simple because there is a lot of shimmer in the background. I am sharing this in the following challenges:

The Male Room - School Colours
SSS Monday challenge - stamp it
Double D challenges - glitter

Supplies:
Stamps: Hero Arts - Graphic leaves background
Dies: Hero Arts - Thank you
Misc: Nuvo  - ebony black drops, radiant gold gilding flakes

Thanks for stopping by!

  7. How very naughty of you not to centre your "you" LOL, I think it is a wonderful card and would have thought you did it deliberately, LURVE the Nuvo correction though. A very classy card. Thank you for joining us at The Male Room. Faith DT
