I want to give a big thank you to those who followed me. Thanks! I can't believe the talent of everyone and how nice this community is :)
Ok, now to some cards. I had intended to only make one card but the way it worked out, the scraps actually worked perfectly to make a second one.
I started with the white background card. I took a top folding A2 card and die cut a square with SSS stitched square nesting dies. Then I took some larger scraps of navy and lime cardstock and die cut smaller squares from them. I layered the negative portions all under the top flap of my card and then used a kraft panel for the smallest square.
The car is from Penny Black's Cars set. Completely reminds me of the movie 'Cars'. I can't wait to take my son to see the new one. I am a big kid, lol. I stamped it on Neenah Solar white cardstock and then colored it in with some aqua Copics. A quick note: I don't use dark grey copics very often and as I was coloring the wheels, I found out that at times they let out a lot of ink and it kept wanting to bleed. Not sure if anyone else has had that happen. The colorless blender marker came in handy for getting the dark grey out of my colored areas but it is still a little messier than I like! I fussy cut the car out and used a little foam tape to put it on the front of my squares. I liked that it is a little outside of the squares. The sentiments are from the same PB set and the little dots are Nuvo Midnight Blue.
The second card was done simply using the square scraps from the first one on a Kraft folding card and a second car that I colored. I tried to be more careful with the dark colors on the tire but still found it necessary to use the colorless blender. Its a learning experience :) The Nuvo dots are Apple Green.
