Rainbow day

Hello! This card is perfect for my little girls being that it has a rainbow, a unicorn and (especially!) a cupcake. I hadn't even finished making it and they were trying to take it for themselves, lol.

I started this several days ago just because I wanted to color the unicorn with a rainbow mane and tail so I stamped him and the cupcake on Neenah solar white cardstock and used my copics to color them. I used C0 to do a little shading on the unicorn's body but otherwise I just used bright colors and had fun. Then I fussy cut them out and left them out where my girls decided to play with him. At that point, I knew I had to make a card quickly or I was going to lose my chance :)

First I adhere the unicorn and cupcake to a top folding card. Then I used a mixing bowl to trace an arch on some masking paper and cut along the edge. Once I did that, I had two pieces that were exactly the same shape and used them to sandwich a small strip that I could add distress oxide inks to. I started with the purple and by the time I got to the red my masking paper wasn't sticking very well anymore. If I were to do this again, I would cut two pieces of masking paper at once so that I could change to the second piece for the last three colors.

The sentiment is from the same SSS set and I used my Misti to shape it to the arch of the rainbow. I also took some water on a paint brush and flicked it on the rainbow. I was trying to go for a look of a rainbow through raindrops but not sure it worked exactly as I had hoped. I had to put wink of stella on the rainbow and the unicorn's mane and tail too. Sparkly in real life but hard to see in the picture.

I am sharing this in a few challenges:
SSS Wednesday challenge - birthday
TIME OUT challenge - when it rains look for rainbows, when its dark look for stars
CAS-ual Fridays challenge - rainbow

Thanks so much for stopping by :)
