Gold leaves

Hi! I had a lot of fun making this card.

I started out by die cutting 3 leaves from Concord and 9th's Layering Leaves die. Then I took those and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. I got the idea from Jennifer McGuire's blog awhile back. The metallic finish is beautiful in real life. I had some black hemp thread and tied them together with it.

To make the background, I used some watercolor cardstock and masked off the edges with some masking tape. I blended Peeled Paint and Cracked Pistachio distress oxide inks on the background. I worked in layers, spraying it with water and then drying with my heat gun and occasionally mopping up some of the water with a tissue until I got a color I liked. It is so much fun to take the masking tape off and see the clean edges and how the color you made looks against the white paper!

I used versafine black ink to add the sentiment from SSS's Uplifting Thoughts and then embossed it with clear embossing powder to make it stand out a little and give some shine. The bundle of leaves went next to the sentiment and I used some gold Nuvo drops to finish the front off. I ended up with some white spots on the stems of my leaves, so I took a gold metallic marker that I had and colored in the spots. It worked really well :)

I am entering this card in a few challenges:
Color Throwdown Green, black and gold
SSS Wednesday Challenge - Bit O'Green
CASology - foliage
