Get Well Soon

Hi all! Hope everyone is having a good day :) This time I made a card for a friend who just had surgery on her knee. This was actually her second surgery and hopefully her last. Anyway, I saw this ducky with an umbrella and thought it would make her smile.

Happy Monday :) Today I made a card that was inspired by the challenge at Time Out Challenges CASEing a card by their guest designer, Hannelie. Here is my take on it.

More than all the stars

I hope everyone is having a great weekend :) This card combined a few things that are new for me; splattering and using a foiled background.

Simple things in life

Hello! I hope everyone is having a great day :)

I started this card by stamping the flower from Clearly Besotted on water color paper and heat embossing it with clear sparkly powder. Then I used Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush to color it in. I used a pale blue color to outline the flower and add some light color to the background. After stamping the sentiment from Hero Arts, I trimmed the panel down and layered it on some patterned paper.

Happy Birthday hearts

Hello! I have a lot of birthdays over the next couple of months so of course I want to make their cards. This time I used glitter to make a simple card with lots of sparkle.
I got the technique from Jennifer McGuire's blog. I used double sided adhesive sheets and stuck one side to some white cardstock. I then ran it through my cuttlebug with Paper Smooches linked hearts die. It didn't cut through all the way but that was actually helpful since I wanted to keep them all together. I took off one small piece at a time and added a color glitter to it. Then I used my bone folder to really rub it in. I repeated that with all of the pieces until I had a string of colorful hearts.
I cut out two more sets of hearts to layer together and give the hearts some depth. I heat embossed the sentiment from Clearly Besotted with a rainbow embossing powder and then added a few sparkly embellishments around the hearts.  You can see a little more of the glitter in the below picture.

I am sharing this card in a few challenges:

Happy Wednesday! I have a friend who just found out she was pregnant with her first child so I wanted to make a card to congratulate her. :)

Hi! I have a cute card today. I colored the two kittens from Clearly Besotted's You're Perrfect stamps with copics and then fussy cut them out. The dp is from Lawnfawn and so is the sentiment which I die cut and then stamped. You can't really see it in the picture but I added glossy accents over the sentiment to give it some shine.

I am sharing this card in Freshly Made Sketches #284 and Sending Paw Prints - Green challenges.

Layering blossoms

Hello :) I love, love, love cards that have pretty watercolor on them but I never seem to be able to use watercolor correctly. I am going to keep trying though. This card is kind of a cheat on watercolor. First I masked off my water color cardstock so that only a strip in the middle was visible. I used Altenew's Bold Blossom set in shades of pinks and greens along the open area and then took a waterbrush before it completely dried to blur the lines a bit.

Once I took the masking off I used a wink of stella on the higlight parts of the flower to give it a little shimmer. The 'beautiful' is a die cut from C&9th's Beautiful You die and the little words are from the C&9th's Beautiful Words set. I used glossy accents on the die cut to add some dimension and then a few Nuvo drops too. I adhered the panel to a top folding card to finish it off.

Hi! I have a Christmas card today. My goal is to get all of my Christmas cards done before December :)

Fairy day

Hello. I had fun masking and coloring to build a fairy scene!

I started out by stamping my fairies and house from Lawn Fawn and then used sticky notes to make masks for them. I stamped the larger flower and then masked that off too. I used distress inks to create a soft blue sky and the green lawn. I took the masks off and colored with copics and colored pencils. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted. I framed the scene with some white card stock die cut with an Avery Elle die.

Stamps: Lawn Fawn - Fairy Friends, Clearly Besotted - Good times
Inks - Distress inks, copics, prismacolor pencils, wink of stella
Dies - Avery Elle - double pierced rectangles

Smile bright

I was inspired by Addicted to CAS's challenge word 'Smile'.

I knew I wanted to do something bright and cheery so I started with a couple of yellow distress inks. I used Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed to smoosh ink on my kraft mat and then sprayed the mat with water. I was attempting to do a water color wash by using a paint brush to put water down on some watercolor cardstock and then add the ink to it. The color was a little brighter than I was expecting but it was definitely cheery. I stamped the sentiment and smiley face with versafine black ink and then clear embossed.

Rainbow day

Hello! This card is perfect for my little girls being that it has a rainbow, a unicorn and (especially!) a cupcake. I hadn't even finished making it and they were trying to take it for themselves, lol.

Christmas Garland

My goal is to make a couple of Christmas cards every month. This time I am using the Merry Monday Challenge - branches/twigs as inspiration. :)

Celebrate with a cupcake

I colored this cute stamp from Penny Black's Cakes and Wishes set with my copics and then put in some shadows with colored pencils. I used gel pens to color in the sprinkles on the cupcake and then decided that I wanted a little more dimension so I added some Nuvo drops too. Its funny, I didn't realize I liked coloring until I started making cards. Now, I find random reasons to pick up markers, pencils and pens. :)

CAS Cherry blossom

I really love CAS cards but I struggle to make them REALLY clean and simple. This time I was determined and it is about as CAS as I can do :)

I saw the challenge to make a card with leaves/trees on CAS on Sunday and wanted to use my Hero Arts Layering Fall Trees. Only I really didn't want to think about fall yet so I decided to try my hand at making a cherry tree in blossom. I started by looking at a picture of real cherry blossoms to figure out what colors I wanted to use. I got a range of pink inks and started layering them on my tree.
I wanted the trunk to fade a little more in the background and make the pink more in the front. I used my white gel pen to shade around the branches and cover up a tiny bit of the brown. Then I took copics in similar colors and added some more pink dots. The sentiment is from the Thanks Stamp and Cut set. Once I had that done, I didn't like how my tree kind of floated so I used a Zig marker and some water to make a line of grass under the tree. I used some pink cardstock to just have a hint of color at the top and I was done.
I am sharing this card in two challenges:
CAS on Sunday - trees/leaves and
A Blog Named Hero - anything goes

Spring flowers

Hi! Spring is such a fun inspiration for colors. I used SSS Mod Flower background stamp to clear emboss some watercolor cardstock. Then I took three Zig clean color markers and a water brush to color the flowers and leaves.

Giraffe birthday

Have you heard about April the giraffe in NYC? The have a baby watch going for her, should have a baby any day now. So I thought I would make a birthday card with a little giraffe on it :)

Artsy thanks

I am so happy that spring is here! I've seen a bunch of robins in the last week or so (in Michigan that means spring is here) and I can't wait until the flowers start coming up. The card I made today reminds me of when the flowers first start blooming. I took SSS Artsy Flowers and die cut all the pieces out and then stamped them with several colors.

I used small butterflies from Birch Press Design Close to the Heart and then drew in some lines showing they had already visited the flowers.

I am sharing this card in two challenges.

Hello rainbow

I just got my Tombow markers a few weeks ago and I've slowly been playing with them. This time I wanted to see how well I could blend them quickly without a lot of effort. I took some rainbow colors and scribbled them on a piece of Bristol smooth paper overlapping a little at each side. Then I cut out a Hello from Concord and 9th. I used the same die on some foam and put them together for some dimension.

Hi! This week has been crazy busy but something I am very glad I got to do was go to an art class at a local store. I had been to the class twice before and the teacher is very good at walking you through using Copics and colored pencils. She owns Vanilla Arts and has new classes every month both in person and online. This is the image that we got to color this time. It is from Memory Box.

Aren't those guys so cute! It was mostly coloring with colored pencils but we put a base coat of copics down first. Coloring on kraft paper is a little scary for me so it was cool to have a class on it :)

I am posting this in The Daily Marker's 30 day coloring challenge too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Super critters

Its so much fun to get a stamp set with a lot of little pieces that you can put together to create a scene. When I got the Caped Cuties set from Clearly Besotted, I wanted to color as many as I could. I started by stamping the little super heros and then cut out masks for the two on the bottom to stamp the buildings behind them.

Pink roses

I used the rose and leaf stamps from Winnie and Walter's In Bloom: Anna's Flora for this one. I stamped one of the roses and then stamped on a sticky note and cut out a mask so I could stamp the second one. Then I stamped a few of the leaves around them and used copics to color the flowers. I want to learn how to use colored pencils with my copics to give more details but for this one, I just used a white pencil to give a little more highlight on the edge of the petals.

Puppy thanks

I am just going to say upfront that I am not good with mixed media challenges. I love seeing other people's creations but when I try I just get flustered. However, I saw the challenge at Sending Paw Prints to make a pet thank you card with print and wanted to make a card with puppies. I also happened to have a stamp that was typewriter text and thought that could work. So to start, I took white card stock and stamped with a large Stampabilities text background stamp. Then I used Antique Linen and Old Paper distress inks to give it a little color. I colored a couple of puppies from Clearly Besotted's Playful Pooches set with copics and then fussy cut them out.

I was rushing last year to get Christmas cards done so this year I am determined to make them throughout the year (we'll see how well it goes).

Tulips and boots

This card kind of developed as I was going along. I stamped the Technique Tuesday, Bootiful Tulips on some Bristol smooth paper so that I could color it with my Zig brush markers. I started out with just three colors and some water but as I was going along, I added a darker green and purple for some shadows. I also took a really light blue/gray color and outlined around the whole image. Not sure it shows in the pictures but in real life it makes the image show up a little more. I like how it came out but then came trying to add a sentiment.

Gold leaves

Hi! I had a lot of fun making this card.

I started out by die cutting 3 leaves from Concord and 9th's Layering Leaves die. Then I took those and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. I got the idea from Jennifer McGuire's blog awhile back. The metallic finish is beautiful in real life. I had some black hemp thread and tied them together with it.

To make the background, I used some watercolor cardstock and masked off the edges with some masking tape. I blended Peeled Paint and Cracked Pistachio distress oxide inks on the background. I worked in layers, spraying it with water and then drying with my heat gun and occasionally mopping up some of the water with a tissue until I got a color I liked. It is so much fun to take the masking tape off and see the clean edges and how the color you made looks against the white paper!

Out of this world birthday

My son's birthday is coming up! I love making cards for my kids because they love getting them so much :) Anyway, one of the things he likes learning about is outerspace. So I thought it would be fun to make a bunch of aliens to wish him a happy birthday.

Quick emboss and color

I am trying to color a little bit every day for The Daily Marker Coloring challenge.

Watercolor heart

I was having a hard time making a card that I liked so I decided to step back and just look at my supplies and choose something that I had been wanting to use but hadn't gotten around to.

I pulled out the Hero Arts Love stamp and cut set. I really like the big scripty 'love' that is in it. To highlight it I took a heart die from SSS and cut out some water color paper.

I try to keep a few sympathy cards around. It seems like if I don't have one ready when I need one, I don't have the time or energy to make it then. Its definitely better to make them when you don't need them!

Anyway, I made this one using Paper Smooches Botanicals 3 and Hero Arts Prayers stamp and cut.
